Royal Trek & Jungle Safari - 09 Days

This trek is particularly well suited to families with children between the ages of five and twelve. It covers areas of Nepal that are no higher than 2200m above sea level, combining the exploration of its outstandingly beautiful countryside with a Jungle safari tour in the Royal Chitwan National Park, as well as a Kathmandu city tour. The trek gives a taste of Nepal’s varied landscapes, vibrant culture and opportunities for adventure over a period of ten days that will not be too taxing for anyone who is reasonably fit and healthy.

The trek route is one of the oldest in the Annapurna region. It was used by Nepal’s royal family as well as by Prince Charles on one of his first visits to Nepal, hence the name. It is a fitting title that also sums up the superlative experience it offers to explore this beautiful and iconic section of the Himalayas.

Your first full day in the country will be taken up by a sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu valley, which is the most populated area of Nepal. Over the next few days you will be trekking in the Himalayan foothills between Kalikasthan and Pokhara, the enchanting little lakeside town known as the ‘City of Lakes’. The trek takes you through some wonderfully inspiring landscapes, passing terraced rice fields, forested ridges, glacial lakes, picturesque villages and ancient temples, with the constant backdrop of the high peaks of the Annapurna Himal.

The jungle safari comes as an exciting climax to your tour in the oldest of Nepal’s national parks. The Royal Chitwan Nation Park covers an area of 932 sq km in the subtropical lowlands of the Terai Region in the south of Nepal, between the Rapti and Naryani rivers. Who could resist a ride on an elephant, a canoe trip along the river, or the sights and sounds of the jungle? This diverse region is the habitat of many rare and endangered species, including the one-horned rhinoceros, tiger, four-horned antelope and gharial crocodile, as well as many other common mammals, birds and butterflies, which make any jungle safari a colourful and memorable experience.
